World Environment Week Wrap

Think Global – Grow Local was our theme for World Environment Week this year.

And the weather gods must have been paying attention, as the rain stopped and patches of blue sky encouraged locals to come down and tour the sustainable features of our community garden – 3.7kW solar power with battery storage, a substantial bio-swale to capture and hold our storm water for use in growing productive food crops, our strawbale shelter (the hearth of our Garden), our resource recycling compost bays and substantial worm farms, not-to mention our community built pizza oven which was the centre of attention around lunch time.

What a lovely atmosphere it was, enhanced by the participation of families with their children

WP_20170610_12_51_12_ProOne family won the worm farm donated by the Moss Vale Resource Recovery centre and raffled off after the worm demo.  We were treated to a scrumptious morning tea provided by the local CWA ladies followed by wood-fired pizzas for lunch.

In the end, an altogether enjoyable way to start the June long weekend.
